Unwinding with B Side Wines

Finally checking in after a jam-packed April (so far!) and wanted to take a moment (as I sip on some B Side Wine) to catch everyone up with what has been going on and why we’ve been so busy.

Speaking of wine, our two-year wedding anniversary just crept up on us and we celebrated by stocking up on one of my new favorites - B Side Wines. So you can definitely say I’ve been quite the happy wife! Sean picked me up an overload of bottles from our local Safeway and I’ve been enjoying them ever since.

ANYWAY, this month has been nuts and we’re only a few weeks in! March was relatively slow, as was most of winter for shooting purposes (getting dark too early, etc) so our work wasn’t so stressful. Buuuut as soon as April rolled around and the weather started clearing up, we dived right back in head-first to our photography gigs (so many exciting shoots that I can’t wait to share!), home projects (THE GUEST BATHROOM IS COMPLETE!), and travel (my fave!).

Last weekend, Sean and I were lucky to enjoy some time with one of my best blogger friends Grace and her hubby who were visiting Vegas from Phoenix. We spent the weekend playing tourist for a few days, lounging by the pool and feeling like fancy VIPs in the most gorgeous hotel. The two days literally ZOOMED by and then it was back to real life. Unfortunately, even a staycation can take a toll on your daily routine and by the time it was all over, we were staring at a laundry list of things that still needed to get taken care of before the week started up again.

In my typical procrastinator fashion, I said eff the list and decided to take Monday off just for myself. I don’t know about you ladies, but a day off with absolutely nothing to do is one of my favorite things in the world. It’s when I catch up on “me time,” treat myself to self-care activities such as laying around with a sheet mask, painting my nails, listening to records and sipping on some wine.

I started my afternoon off perfectly with a poured glass of B Side Wines Chardonnay, grabbed a stack of my favorite records, and let myself tune out the rest of the world and get lost in the music. Honestly, I don’t think there’s anything better than putting your phone and laptop away, forgetting everything that’s going on around you, and just zoning out. Wine has always helped me do that, especially after a long day (or in this case, the most jam-packed month) and I tend to enjoy mine paired with some peaceful tunes.

When it comes to wine, I’m not going to sit here and lie to you or try to come off as some wine snob. I don’t know much about the inner workings of the vino world, but I do know what I like.

I know that I like my favorite wine to be easily accessible (and if you live in Las Vegas, you can find them at Safeway stores). I know I like wine that just tastes good. I know that some tastes are associated with certain memories, and for me B Side Wines Chardonnay reminds me of Sean and I’s mini-moon in the Redwood Forest in the most beautiful A-frame cabin. There was no T.V. and no Wi-Fi - all they had were books, a record player, and the most extensive collection of classic vinyl. We spent every evening cooking dinner together, dancing in the living room, and sharing a bottle of wine. Drinking wine while listening to my favorite records ALWAYS takes me back to that exact moment in time and eases all of my stress.

Does wine do the same thing for you? Do you ever drink a certain blend and instantly get transported back to a time or a special memory?
