What to Wear: A Weekend in Joshua Tree

Last weekend, Sean and I were able to cross another location off of our travel list: Joshua Tree. We have been wanting to visit this west coast landmark for a while now, but life kept forcing us to put it off. Finally, we bit the bullet and booked the most beautiful AirBnB for a quick getaway before our long weekend in Palm Springs. The drive through the desert was perfect - long enough to enjoy good music, snacks, and conversation without wanting to choke each other. It was right in the middle of those two. :)

Because of how short this trip was, we packed very lightly. Like, one backpack lightly. I knew I would need only two essentials for our getaway: a flowy dress and a patterned jumpsuit. I was able to find the perfect pieces at Olive + Pepper at a super affordable price. Both pieces will be linked at the end of the post!

This jumpsuit is an absolute dream. The fabric is so soft and stretchy, and because of the large floral pattern, I didn't feel like it was showing off the extra too-many-snacks-on-this-roadtrip belly I had going on. ;) Another huge perk: no bra. Any chance I have to let the girls hang out, I'm taking. (Actually, this was true for both pieces, thanks to the gorgeous ruffle off-the-shoulder tops.) If you know me, you know my first true love was black. It took me such a long time to learn to love other colors. In the past year, I have actually slowly rid my closet of black and now focus on more earthy tones for my everyday wear. However, when I saw this piece, I knew it would be an absolute showstopper in the desert against all of the warmer, more muted tones. It didn't disappoint! I paired this jumpsuit with some chelsea boots and statement jewelry.

We spent the majority of the second day just lounging around and enjoying the most beautiful AirBnB that we were lucky enough to snatch up for the weekend. For quiet days indoors, I always love the freedom of a flowy dress. They're so comfortable and perfect for a casual day in, but can also be quickly dressed up with the right pair of shoes. I styled this baby blue stunner with my favorite wedge sandals, and a classic tan fedora. I think the whole look matched up perfectly with the home's minimalistic vibes. I felt like a modern-day Betty Draper (sobbing ever since Mad Men has been over).

As promised, both pieces are linked below. (They're both on sale, so pick them up before they're gone for good!)
