Falling in Love with Thrifting
Call me crazy, but I have never stepped foot into a thrift store. The most I’ve done is sell my gently used items to a buy-back/trade store, but I’ve never actually shopped. It’s not because I have anything against it. It’s because I just don’t have the time to hunt the racks for a hidden gem! This is why I do most of my shopping online anyway, because it’s a lot easier to just type in exactly what I’m looking for at my go-to fashion retailers, hit the checkout button, and let PayPal handle the rest for me.
But lately, I’ve noticed thrifting is on the rise! It seems like more often than not, an item I ask another blogger about will be something she thrifted. More and more fashion influencers are taking us along on their thrifting trips via vlog, or showing us their amazing thrift hauls. As much as I’d love to be a part of the movement, I still just can’t create the time in my schedule to drive from store to store hoping to score a great piece.
A few weeks ago, one of my good ‘gram-friends contacted me asking if I’d help model some of her thrifted finds. It totally reminded me that she runs her own side hustle of scouring the racks at different thrift stores, showing them styled in a way you wouldn’t have thought, and selling them on her IG business page. I was all for it, and put her up to the challenge of finding me one-of-a-kind pieces that fit my style and favorite color palette (warm and orange). Not only did she deliver, but I actually fell in love with every piece she sent me.
My favorite part of the whole project was that Jaclyn analyzed my style based on my IG photos, did all the hard work for me, and sent me the best surprise package. It was like having a personal shopper, but saving a butt-load of money by only picking up second-hand pieces!
We had so much fun styling the looks and shooting them.. Here’s just a sneak peak of what we were up to this past weekend, featuring the coolest Slipknot shirt (my husband literally went gaga over this and is so bummed it doesn’t fit him LOL) and this dreamy fringed jacket! Stay tuned on IG for more looks!
Jaclyn’s business is called ThriftyLov, and her thrifted finds are available exclusively on IG.
