Our Bedroom Makeover with Urban Outfitters Home!
As much as we loved our minimal bedroom decor and color palette, we knew we wanted to switch some things up for the summer to add a few pops of color. We have both really been loving blush this season and how it complements the other warm tones throughout our home, so we were anxious to incorporate the trend in our bedroom. We went a little crazy at Urban Outfitters Home and picked up some great pieces that really tied everything together.
We started off with this gorgeous blush pink throw blanket. We love the geometric print and the little tassels at the ends. If you get anything at all, get a good throw blanket. It's a total bedroom game changer and a super easy way to introduce a new color scheme to your room. You can also switch it out super easily as the seasons or color trends change, as opposed to more expensive bed linens.
(Speaking of bed linens, ours are from Parachute Home and we absolutely love love love them! Make the switch to 100% linen, especially if you live in the desert like us, and then thank me later.)
Once we decided on the right throw, we kind of worked the rest of our decorations around it. We knew we wanted more warm and natural tones, heavy textures, and an overall dreamy, boho bedroom. So the next thing we chose was this gorgeous, velvet pink body pillow. As much as I love our bed frame (thanks Amazon!), the fact that it doesn’t have a padded headboard makes it a little uncomfortable to read books at night or work on the computer from bed. The body pillow is a total lifesaver and gives me something to lean up against on those lazy days.
Next up are these amazing shaggy beige pillows, also from Urban Outfitters. Paired up against the blush, they help keep the bedroom from looking “too” pink (is that a thing? According to my husband, it is). We love how they helped bring everything together. So if you’re looking for masculinity (not really) but something still adorable and Pinterest-worthy, go with beige. Beige never fails.
In our usual fashion, we kept our furniture (night stands, dresser) in warm wood. We have this serious crush on wood because it seems to work with absolutely everything and definitely pairs up nicely with the blush and golds. This specific set is from Target. The sconces are from our friends at Illuminate Vintage, like the rest of our lighting fixtures throughout the house. We were a bit torn on window coverings in here; the rest of our house has these great light-filtering white pleated shades, but I wanted something different in our bedroom to make it stand out more. We ended up choosing these natural bamboo ones and I actually really like how they transformed the space. Definitely more boho, and now with the bathroom looking like a spa, it all flows together nicely!
We styled our dresser very minimally and only with things that really spoke to us. The large print is from Society6, another favorite of mine for finding framed art at an affordable price. Sean framed this photo of his dad in this brushed brass frame from Target (another favorite of mine for affordable frames) and we love how it ties in beautifully with our other gold and brass accents. My absolute favorite candle from Henri Bendel in “Velvet Oud” makes our bedroom smell like a dream, especially when paired up with fresh roses. I feel like this is a huge theme throughout our home – warm woods, earth tones, and fresh flowers and plants. But hey, I’m not complaining! Finally, we topped it all off with one of Sean’s vintage cameras. Photography is such a huge part of his life, and has been becoming part of mine as well. It has a lot of sentimental value and we thought it needed to be showcased.
We’re currently still sourcing the perfect vintage area rug for the space. We previously had a lovely natural woven one, but we’ve decided to reuse that one in the guest room (update coming soon, hopefully!) and go for something with a pop of color here instead. When we find something, I’ll be sharing it on here!
Oh and in case you were wondering, this bedroom is 100% Bambi-approved. Thank you, Bambi! ;)
